So a few weeks ago, I saw a video on youtube that was all about parents giving babies lemons to watch their faces. Some of these babies were older, but a lot of these babies were about Katherine’s age (so it looked) and it got me thinking. Babies start with milk and move to rice cereal and pureed foods because they can’t digest foods, but that doesn’t mean they can’t taste it, right? As long as I don’t let her swallow anything she’ll be fine. This was my logic.

A couple of sundays ago, Chad left early to play in the worship band, and I was up well before I had to leave for church, so I made myself a blueberry muffin loaf (muffin mix put in a glass loaf dish).

Katherine had been watching very intently as I tore off a piece and ate it right in front of her. “The nerve of mommy eating and not sharing!” So I broke a very small piece and placed it on her tongue to taste and took it back off. Katherine smacked her lips for a moment, looked at the crumb in my hand, and immediately reached and dove for the crumb, wrestling my fingers to get it. She hollered until I found a toy to distract her. Whew. Well, she will like muffins!
