Dear Katherine,

This note might actually be the first one written to you by someone other than your dear momma and daddy. So, to that end we want to encourage you to memorize two chapters of scripture:

First of all since you were born on the 10th, we encourage you to memorize Proverbs chapter 10. No doubt you will find many things in it that will encourage and challenge your heart.

Secondly, we encourage you to memorize Psalms 139. It contains truth that your parents know all to well now that you’ve arrived AND truth you will need to be reminded of many times throughout your life.

Finally, we commend HOW FIRM A FOUNDATION to you. This hymn by Charles Wesley will inform your life….

There, a little bit of home work for you….

It was so wonderful to be able to see and hold your extremely precious baby girl today. What an awe-inspiring creature she is! God’s wonderful handiwork displayed. Blessings on you, Sarah, for a quick recovery, wisdom and peace to counteract every tearful cry of little Katherine, and the confidence that God created you for this. Motherhood is such a fulfillingly difficult journey with so many rewards along the way. I want to help you and Chad out in any way I can, even though I don’t know you well. I know you’ll want a night for just the two of you in the upcoming weeks after you’ve recovered and Chuck and I would be more than willing to take care of sweet Katherine so that you can have a night off.
