The Day after the Wedding, Chad and I packed up our stuff for the week, said, “good morning and thanks” to the Borders fam, and began our journey to wherever Chad had booked us for the week. I was totally clueless about where we were going, and all I knew was to pack for the beach and hiking. Apparently my mother had let it slip before the wedding and covered ok, but I didn’t even notice which is really funny to me! Chad did really, really good choosing a location and keeping it a surprise.

After about six hours on the road and two stops for boiled peanuts and peaches, we crossed the bridge to Amilia Island and Fernandina Beach! It felt good to be at the beach after all that chaos. Our Bed and Breakfast, the 1783 House, sat right on the beach! According to the house keeper, Ashley, we had the best room in the place. We had a small living area, kitchenette with a breakfast table and, full bath (including a jacuzzi tub), and our bedroom had windows on three of the four walls, looking out over the sea grass and onto the beach. The apartment was furnished with a neat mix of antique country and sailing/beach things, so it was quite cozy and relaxing, and I would agree with our housekeeper.

We had a blast and ended up vegging out most of the week. Whether we took walks on the moonlit beach, danced in the rising sun rays, body surfed in the swelling waves before supper-time, or simply stayed in and napped during the day, we enjoyed the week. Just before it was time for us to leave, we started getting home sick for our new house, and I never thought I would be tired of the beach before this week!
