The minutes passing between now and the wedding are beginning to feel more and more like months! Fortunately, a friend of mine (Schaum) has the next week or so free and he has agreed to spend it on my couch, so I don’t have to be totally alone for the duration. Thank God!

Aside from just unpacking and working on the house (and aside from zoning out with movies or videogames), does anyone have any suggestions on things I can do to make the time pass for the next week?

Our House

Every day, this house feels more and more like my home. Also, every day I get a little more unpacked and settled in.

I’m trying not to unpack too many of my personal possessions until Sarah gets here, because I want us to kind of settle into the house together, but it’s getting harder to keep all of my things in boxes! One more week, I can make it, right?

The Backyard

This is the view of our backyard from the spot where I park my boat. Or rather where I would park my boat if I actually had a boat, which I’m dying for! Every Sunday going to and from church when I drive over the reservoir spillway, I see about three dozen sails jutting above the horizon off in the distance, and I always wish I could be out there under one of them!

OK, everyone but Sarah click ‘More’ for more photos!

The View From Inside

This is the view out our bedroom window, directly across from the bed. I actually took this picture while lying in bed, so this is pretty much exactly what Sarah and I can look forward to seeing every morning when we wake up. The window faces east, but because of the trees we don’t get any direct sunlight, ever. It’s so nice!

Chad’s Office

This is my office, where I’ll be doing a lot of work at home. Through clever framing of this picture, I managed to keep the unsightly piles of clutter still waiting to be unpacked out of the shot.

The Living Room

A couple of things make this living room kind of difficult to deal with.

First, in addition to the furniture from my apartment, my parents generously donated the old furniture from their house. Glad to have all the seats, but this means I have to find a home for two sofas, a loveseat and two recliners in the house somewhere.

Second, the living room is very large, but is a kind of weird shape: long and narrow. This means if I put a couch on each wall and a third across the room (making three sides of a square seating area), there’s just barely enough room to squeeze between them.

Anybody have any suggestions for arranging the furniture?

Yes - you can make it!! You and your friend should go hiking or something like that to get out of the house - things like that make time go by more quickly for me. So - are you not working?
Waiting on the personal items until Sarah gets there is a great idea - I’m sure she can help with furniture arranging as well :) When I have more time I’ll re-read your description and see if I can come up with anything. :) See you soon!

    Gosh, pretty.

Can’t wait to see you SOON.

Do all the couches and loveseats have to go in the living room? Is there enough space in, say, the office or bedroom for the loveseat (so Sarah can snooze on it while you work)?

Also, why doesn’t Sarah get to click “more” for more pictures?

Everything looks great, Chad. As for the boat, all in good time my friend, all in good time. You will make it. I like Kate’s idea of going camping. Are those movies or games in the living room??? Hang in there, I know Sarah misses you, as well. Just think of how great it will be to see each other after all this time!!!

The big day is only one week away - I know you can both make it! And it’s only 4 days til we hit the road to Marietta (that sounds a LOT shorter, doesn’t it?) One suggestion on how to make the time pass this week is to spend a little time figuring out something special for Sarah when you arrive back at the house after the honeymoon. Chasing that down could be a few hours of fun. I suspect there’s also a few hours of work left to do clearing out the old apartment (holler if you need some boxes). Shelley and Daniel are here today so be sure and come over for a visit and some vittles! Nothing like a house full of fambly to distract you!

Thanks, everyone, for the words of advice and encouragement. They really do help a lot!

I’ve actually managed to keep busy enough that the time to leave is almost here! We leave for Georgia tomorrow morning…

And oh yeah, Beth…those are movies in the living room. As an actor and theatre guy, I’m a bit of a film buff, and over the years the collection has sort of…grown.

By the way, in that last post, when we say something special for Sarah, we do NOT mean a bucket of water over the door, or a puddle of pistachio pudding at the foot of her side of the bed.

And the time gets closer! You could almost hold your breath for the remaining time! Four days! But I wouldn’t advise that.

    Chad and Sarah,
So sorry we could not be there for the wedding but you were in our prayers and thoughts. Your house looks wonderful! Hope we get to see it some day. Blessings on you and your home as you begin your life together. Come see us!
