Wednedsay evening, I left work early and picked Sarah up, and we went down to the lawyer’s office to close on our house! After signing papers for about an hour, the (former) owners handed us the keys and we became homeowners!
Our new home is in northeast Jackson, about 10 minutes’ drive from Belhaven College (Sarah’s school). It’s in a quiet little neighborhood, with lots of trees and kids and plants and pets and families.
The house is a nice little 3 Bedroom /1.5 Bath home with a large kitchen and a large living room, a small yard, and a 1-car garage. The condition of the home is remarkably good given its age, and that our area of the country is known for its ‘Yazoo Clay’, which causes foundation problems in most neighborhoods.
Sarah went back to Georgia today, where she’ll be for the next 3 weeks (and 1 day) getting ready for the wedding, so I’ll be doing most of the moving work myself. Aside from all the furniture and things that need to get moved in, I’ll need to paint a few of the rooms because their current colors are rather…er…intense.
I don’t have any pictures of the house to post yet, but I’ll try to get some posted here in the next several days!

My word, did it ever…
…fortunately, the lawyer we used was the self-proclaimed ‘fastest closer in the west’, so he literally fast-talked us through the forms we needed to understand and had us all done fairly quickly.
The realtors were impressed…

We were excited to hear you have a new home!! We’re sure the painting was not a wonderful thing of fun and games. Hope everything is moved in o.k. becuse it seems like a never-ending job and you can’t wait for it to be over. We know Sarah could be only a little help, especially since she is here in Georgia. By the way, the alter looks great!!!!You did an awesome job,Chad. Can’t wait for your big day!
