Wow! I’m really getting married aren’t I?! Although I know I was proposed to, and I talk about it often, and people ask me details, and I tried on a wedding dress, it seems like like I’m just part of this really neat project that is due for school within the next few weeks. The “wow” moment hit me once again as I drove up to the Miller house Saturday morning for breakfast.
I had just arrived as Chad had just finished breakfast with everyone and was off to work, and I was coming in to work on addressing wedding invitations with my mother (who was in town to visit and participate in shower things) and to help prepare for the shower that afternoon. The living room table was already decorated and the dishes were out waiting to be filled with all kinds of delicious finger foods. It was absolutely gorgeous! I already began to feel like the excitement of the day begin to unfold.
I couldn’t believe that all this prep work and excitement of events was coming about to celebrate the choice that Chad and I had made to become husband and wife, and here I was in my head, a child whose dreams have come true, a rescued damsel, a princess marrying her knight in shining armor! Wow! I was really writing the addresses of all these people I am inviting to witness and celebrate this decision of marriage. That afternoon, close girlfriends of mine were actually coming to be there with me and help me prepare in becoming a wife to the man I loved.
For a first shower, I have to say I am stunned at how blessed I am, not only with a great future husband, a great family and family to be, but I have great friends who love me and care for me and love giggling with me as I open their presents and pantomime (yes I went so low as to act out the cards to make it more interesting then just reading) the cards! It was a fantastic day and I look forward to the next chance I get to giggle with friends and loved ones.

I understand. I still can’t believe we’re married – and it’s been two and a half years! I had this fear that at our first anniversary we’d stop being ‘newlyeds’.
Nah.
Enjoy the planning and time with your family and friends…but the best is definitely yet to come!
