April 3, 2007 by Chad

A year ago yesterday, Sarah and I decided that we were an ‘official’ couple, on the way home to Jackson from Marietta/Atlanta.  April 2, 2006 was the date, and we had taken the day to travel to Georgia to see a Cirque du Soleil show at the Phillips Arena downtown.

We had initially planned to take the whole weekend, but Sarah had been pressed into service by the Theatre Department.  They made her an Assistant Stage Manager for the play they were running that weekend, Uncle Vanya (by Chekhov).  We didn’t get to leave Jackson until the morning of April 2, so we had quite a trip that day!

It was a 6 hour drive from Jackson to Marietta.  We spent a few hours there at the Borders’ home, then we drove into downtown Atlanta (finding a place to park was quite an adventure!). We saw the Cirque show that evening from the nosebleed seats, and drove the whole 6 hours back to Jackson that evening.

And believe it or not, I made it into work the next morning.  Almost on time, too.

The picture above is of a rock Sarah gave me that day, the day we officially started dating.  It’s a piece of the Berlin Wall; she got it on her trip to Germany during the summer of 2005.  This rock is actually about half of the whole piece.  Sarah still has the other half.

There is a new Cirque at Gwinett Center. Wanna come? The weather is cool here today, so I quess it’s work inside. We worked outside yesterday, no nosebleeds yet, just a lot of suggestions. Sure is a pretty ring, Sarah. A lot of sentiment goes with that. Love your updates. Keep it going. A great way to keep up with you guys! We love you both.
