Yard Improvements
About three months ago, a terrible storm came through Jackson, which brought several tornados and estimated 100-mph straight-line winds. Our house was right in the middle of the affected area of town. Fortunately, we only had a couple thousand bucks’ worth of damage to our house. To give you an idea of the scale of damage, about three blocks away you couldn’t find a house that didn’t have a tree through it. It did take a little more than a week before power was restored to our house.
Our backyard, however, was not so fortunate as the house.

We lost a massive pine tree in the back yard. It fell straight away from the house, and hit utility lines and the fence. The power crew was nice enough to chop the tree up into small pieces, but that left us with a huge stump in the back yard that came up to about chest height.
So yesterday, the stump grinding service we hired finally got an opening in their schedule to come grind the stump. It’s made quite a difference in the yard, as you can see here: Read more →

First Anniversary
Well, today’s our first anniversary! One year ago today, we were married at Sarah’s folks’ place out in Marietta. Sheesh, time has sure flown.

These are some flowers I got for Sarah today – she loved them. We’re going to go out for supper tonight and celebrate!

Belly Pictures
I’m sure that there is a high demand to see what i look like now that I’m pregnant; all the ‘ooohs’ and ‘aaahs’ over a cute little pregnant belly. Well, this is supposed to help with that small detail.
This first picture was taken at 16 weeks. Not much of a bump, but she’s there. (March 27, 2008)

These next two are at eighteen and a half weeks. (April 13, 2008)

The May picture will be here soon, I hope. Chad and I met my parents in Tuscaloosa, AL for a weekend camping trip. We had tons of fun! Unfortunately, I was the one holding the camera most of the time (How did that happen?), so there are no pictures of ours that shows my belly. Thankfully, my dad came to the rescue and had his camera to take a couple pictures and said he had to get one of Chad and me to share with the rest of the GA gang so they could see how big (or not so much) my belly was getting. Now, I just have to remember to ask them to send us copies….
This last one was taken recently. June 10, 2008, I was starting my 27th week of pregnancy.

Puppy
This….

is Buster. The newest addition to the Miller family.Chad and I have been wanting a puppy since the middle of the spring semester, but decided to wait until the summer when schedules would not be so crazy that he would not be left at home alone all day as a new puppy. FINALLY, after a few delays due to travel and other events, it was time to go find ourselves a puppy and bring him (or her) home.
After loads of research about dog breeds, behavior, energy levels, exercise requirements, places to adopt puppies, four visits to pounds no where near where we live, and having to push past the urge to take every cute face home with us, we finally made the decision to adopt this cute little guy and name him Buster.
At the pound, he was quite calm for having been penned up for a while (unlike some of the dogs bouncing off the walls), but still had enough energy to be a little sparky, and very friendly. He wasn’t aggressive at all, and
LOVED….LOVES to be rubbed on his belly. He’s a 12 month old terrier mix, although Chad and I think he has to have some hound dog in him the way he acts and looks. Since he’s a year old instead of a couple of months, he’s not quite as hyper as a younger puppy, and he’s already house trained, a HUGE plus so that we won’t have to be cleaning up after two babies come September. Yay!
“Sigh!” the life of a dog!

Buster, welcome to the family!
